Thousands of years ago,

people drew them pictures to tell

a story. They drew them on the

walls of the caves where they lived.

More than 5,000 years ago there wasn’t an aiphabet

in egypt, only a few people wrote.

They used special signs for letters and words.

There were 700 signs .

These signs are called hieroglyphics.

Two thousand years ago, the Chinese invented paper.

There were no pens.

people began to write with feathers in the 7 th century.

In 1945, people started to use pens like the pens we

use today.

People began to use typewriter in 1874.

They didn’t have computers.

J.K. Rowling wrote some of her famous

Harry Potter books on a typewriter before

she bought a computer.
