INTRODUCTION

What follows is my interpretation of the four cups of wine we drink during the Passover Seder. As we recount the story of slavery to freedom, I’ve conceived an addition to the ritual: using four separate cups that visually and viscerally represent the experience of the freedom journey.

Whether you create your own four cups, or include this book in your Seder as a visual supplement, I invite you to pause before drinking each cup to reflect on the stage of freedom it represents and what that stage is like for you or how you imagine it is for others.
