The British Royal family: introduction

If you study English, you must know about the British Royal family.

The current monarch is Charles III. He succeeded his mother, Queen Elizabeth II who died in 2022. Prince William is the current heir to the throne.

They do not have much political power anymore.

British people love gossiping about the British Royal family. Many are very fond of them and particularly of the former queen because she has reigned for a very long time.

Queen Elizabeth II

She was born in 1926 and became Queen of the United Kingdom in 1952. Her reign of over 70 years is the longest of any British monarch.

Her surname was Lilibet.

She died in 2022, at the age of 96, at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

She was married to Prince Philip who died one year before her, in 2021.
