“Friends create memories that the heart keeps״❤️
Dear Sissei and your dear parents, Elena and Nikos,
Thank you very much for the wonderful time we spent with you, and your warm hospitality, in your home, in the magical village of Delvinaki.
About 55 kilometers from Ioannina In the north of Greece, there is a small and magical village, near the border with Albania, called– Delvinaki.
There live, Elena and Nikos, the parents of our friend Sissei.
We spent an amazing day in that village, experiencing paradise, located among the mountains
full of green forests, away from our bustling world.
Elena, Sissie’s mother is an expert in the village’s natural sciences.
Her eyes sparkle like a girl’s eyes.
With a skilled hand, she milks the goats, pasteurizes milk, makes cheeses, and makes glykó tou koutalioú – spoon sweets.
Nikos, Sissie’s father is a teacher and philosopher in life sciences.
His hands grow juicy vegetables and produce Grappa
(an alcoholic drink made from the remains of the grapes left after they are squeezed).
In the evening he pulls out the pen and writes about his life and thoughts.
Their daughter Sissie, our amazing friend, is a professor of anthropology in Ioannina.
Our other amazing friend, Vasiliki is here too.
She is also a professor of anthropology and works at Volis University. Now, she is enjoying a few days away from busy Athens.
Vasiliki’s daughter, Alexandra, and Sissie’s son, Yiannis
have a great time in the village and prove to us once again how much children are more attached to nature, than to the screen.
Elena fills the table
with wonderful traditional Greek dishes.
Everything is so delicious and fresh.
My sister-in-law Neta, reads successfully, everyone’s coffee and hands. She already has a guaranteed job in the village (she was accepted immediately).
Mel, my husband, practices milking goats – he has a future says Elena, and she pulls out the goat’s udders and milks them skillfully. Mel says he is ready to devote himself to the pastoral atmosphere in the village, writing books and playing jazz.
Shlomi, my brother, is rocking and enjoying the relaxation
He has many potential projects here.
I talked with Nikos about poetry and literature – it’s a pleasure and a great opportunity for me to speak with him only in Greek and to dance The Zeibekiko dance with Elena.
Before we were born in the city
We have already forgotten
The taste of the water
In the mountains,
The road that is surrounded
With green forest,
We forgot everything.
While living in high buildings
And honking roads.
We forgot the silence
The Innocence
The little things
Small Words that you can feel
And the time for love.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart to Elena, Nikos, and Sissie,
For an unforgettable day in a small magical Greek village, far away from the busy running time.
Thanks to you, people with a big heart and hands that touch nature.
Thank you for teaching us how beautiful
and perfect life can be.
Thanks for reminding us
that man comes from nature and earth, and not from the stones of the city.
we love you very much!
we wish you all the best!
❤️🤗🙏
