This book was created with the intention of informing pre-schoolers/kindergarteners how the primary and secondary colors work. It demonstrates how you get a secondary color. It instructs students on the correct combination to get to the secondary colors.
Student Learning Outcomes-
1-Students learn what primary colors are.
2- Students learn what combination creates which secondary color.
3- Students learn which colors are secondary.
4- The videos give students musical background and basic information about the color wheel.
The primary colors are Blue, Red, and Yellow.
These 3 colors can create other colors when they are mixed together.
Blue and Red make Purple.
Red and Yellow make Orange.
Yellow and Blue make Green.
These colors are called the Secondary Colors.
You get secondary colors after you mix two primary colors together.
Discussion Questions:
1- How do you get a primary color?
2- How many primary colors are there?
3-What color do you get when you mix yellow and blue?
Follow-up Activity:
Have a parent/guardian buy red, blue, and yellow paint.
Get a piece of paper or a paper plate.
Create 6 circles with a black marker.
Label the circles; Blue, Red, Yellow, Green, Purple, Orange.
Use three circles (Blue, Red, Yellow) and fill them with the primary colors SEPARATELY (settle other 3 circles aside for mixing the primary colors together).
Allow the child to use their hands or a paint brush to mix the colors together.
Have the child use the other 3 circles to create the secondary colors.
Use the book to get the correct combination.
