The NYS Science Learning Standards for 1st Graders states that students will demonstrate an understanding of the changing of the weather, otherwise known as seasons. The four seasons include winter, spring, summer, and fall. Thank you to all educators that make a difference in children’s lives everyday. I hope you enjoy the eBook.
Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to
- Define the word “seasons”
- Identify the four seasons: winter, spring, summer and fall
- Differentiate between characterizations of the different seasons. For example: It is cold and snowy in the winter, hot and sunny in the summer, the leaves change in the fall, and flowers bloom in spring

Winter is one of the four seasons. It is can get very cold, there can be snow on the ground and trees have no leaves.

What is “Spring”?
Spring is one of the four seasons. The days start to get longer, and the temperature begins to warm up. Flowers and new leaves begin to grow.

What is “Summer”?
Summer is one of the four seasons. It has long warm days with lots of daylight. Trees are green in the summer.
What is “Fall”?
Fall is one of the four seasons. There is less daylight than summer, the temperature cools down and leaves on trees change colors.
