Conner and Alex get assigned an assignment, present a fairy tale and its supposed meaning behind it.
Conner and Alex discuss meanings behind common fairy tales when they see their old home, reminding them of their deceased dad.
Alex and Conner present their stories, each of them different from the expected meanings; this reminds them of their dad telling them to embrace their differences. After school they find their grandma – who visits them 2-3 times a year – visiting for their birthday; one of the many gifts they received was a family heirloom, the Land of Stories, a book containing almost every fairytale in existence passed down as a family heirloom. |
After grandma left, Alex’s behaviour took a turn, going from a calm and self collected person, to a tired and unfocused one. Later in class, we find out the cause behind this; the Land of Stories has been glowing and humming, apparently Alex has been dumping things such as pencils and other books into this weird apparatus, and now Alex tried entering the book. |
After entering the Land of Stories, they find themselves in the fairy tale world, proving this with a poster on a wall, “GOLDILOCKS WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE” Just before dusk, Alex and Conner meet a man frog, the frog invites them over instead of spending the night in the middle of a forest, they agree and Froggy tells them about the wishing spell; a spell that can grant the most desired wish of the caster, so Alex and Conner go on a hunt looking for the items required to cast the spell which are:
“A wavy lock of golden rope that once was freedom’s only hope. Glass that housed a lonely soul up ‘til midnight’s final toll. The bark of a basket held in fright while running from a bark with bite. A stony crown that’s made to share, found deep within a savage lair. Teardrops of a maiden fairy feeling neither magical nor merry. Glittering jewels whose value increased after preserving the false decreased. A needle that pierced the lovely skin of a princess with beauty found within. A saber from the deepest sea, meant for a groom’s mortality.” |
As Conner and Alex walk through the forest, they find Goldilocks surrounded by the Big Bad Wolves; they save Goldilocks and she thanks them for their help.
With Conner and Alex running out of the dwarf forests, and entering the corner kingdom, they enter Rapunzel’s tower where they find her hair – one of the eight items – |
In the Sleeping kingdom, the Evil Queen from Snow White, recruits the Huntress, the Hunter’s daughter to get the wishing spell; she was also told that a group of two was also racing her for the Wishing Spell. |
As the siblings arrive at Cinderella’s palace for her glass slipper – the second of the eight items – as they sneak into the palace, they were caught by the palace guards, but Sir Lampton – the head guard of the palace – let’s them in; as they take a tour of the castle, Sir Lampton tells them of the three King Charmings, and their long lost charming brother; as they continue their tour, they meet Cinderella, whom shows them hospitality, so they decide to come back for the slipper another time, as they leave for the night, they find that a mysterious someone had put the slipper in their bag. |
Next the twins go to the Red Riding Hood kingdom to get a piece of bark from Red Riding Hood’s basket; inside they find Jack’s beanstalk, so they go and talk to him, but he was very rude, they left with him to meet the Queen, where she was very nice towards Jack. After their meeting, the siblings sneak into the palace, and steal a piece of bark, as they do, they hear the Huntress also taking a piece from the basket; as they leave the kingdom, they see Jack and Goldilocks talking through the gate like lost lovers. |
As Conner and Alex walk through the forests outside the Red Riding Hood kingdom, they get captured as slaves by trolls and goblins, as they get imprisoned along with a few other slaves, princess Trollbella says that she’ll release them if Conner kissed her; while they’re in the kingdom they take the Troll/Goblin crown as the fourth item, and escape.
Once the twins escape the trolls and goblins, they enter the fairy kingdom, and find a crying fairy; as they collect their fourth item they agree to go with the fairy to its trial to be banished from the fairy kingdom, in front of the fairy council (not including the fairy godmother as she was away) Conner eventually was able to remove the punishment on the fairy, and they met fisher, a walking fish from one of their dad’s tales. |
As Conner and Alex continue to travel through the lands, the Evil Queen meets the Big Bad Wolf; she asks for a trade, they bring her the twins, and she’ll give them Little Red Riding Hood in return.
For the next item, they simply asked Queen Sleeping Beauty for her spindle, and she agreed.
As they break into Snow White’s palace for their seventh item, first they see letters from/to an “Evly” and a “Mira” they then ask Snow White herself, and find themselves going back to the dwarven forests to retrieve the item in the dwarven mines.
As they go through the forest, they find a curvy tree, in a logged forest – another of their dad’s tales – as they find retrieve jewels from Snow White’s coffin inside the dwarven mines – the seventh item – they encounter the pack of Big Bad Wolves whom made a pact with the Evil Queen to bring them to her; but they manage to escape the wolves, but not for long as once they reach the edge the wolves surround them, forcing them to fall into the waters below.
As Goldilocks hides in a barn, the Evil Queen tells her that she’s being framed by Little Red Riding Hood, after all, they both liked Jack but he could only be with one of them; this made Goldilocks decide to bring her to a place she’ll never leave.
As Conner wakes, he finds him and his sister being cared for by the little mermaid, he then asks for the knife that was supposed to kill the prince; it then tells them that it gave the knife to someone else some time ago and that they threw the knife into a living thorn bush that sucks in everything that comes close to it, so it gives them sea shell necklaces to protect them from the bush.
As Conner and Alex retrieve the saber from the bottom of the bush, their necklace breaks, and they barely escape with help from their friend, Froggy; he tells them of a deal he made with the fairy godmother, that she’d turn him into a human if he brought the two to her. As they discuss it, they see Goldilocks dragging Red Riding Hood, but she manages to get free, only to get kidnapped by the Huntress, as Goldilocks tries to get Red Riding Hood, the pack of big bad wolves surround them, so Goldilock’s horse and Froggy leave to find help.
The Evil witch tries to use the wishing spell, but fails since Conner manages to knock the fairy tears onto the floor, so the Evil Queen decides to tell her story; Once upon a time there was an orphan named Evly, on her wedding day with her fiance, Mira, the Enchantress kidnapped her, and used her to control the Northern Kingdom, after the Enchantress found the letters, she turned Mira, into the magic mirror; since the Northern King was still engaged to her, she tried to gain control of the kingdom in order to free Mira, and Snow White was in the way. As Alex cried after the story, Evly dropped one of her tears onto the table with the other items, and it worked.
As Mira escaped the mirror, he withered away since all those years did a toll on him; as the Red Riding Hoods army arrived, they slowly destroy the castle while Jack and Froggy try to save as many as they could, the floor underneath Red Riding Hood broke, but Froggy saved her; as all the wolves, Evly, the hunter and huntress died, Jack and Goldilocks share a kiss, breaking the Queen’s heart.
In the Northern palace’s dungeons, Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks makeup with each other so Goldilocks and Jack can run from the law together; and to support the Queen broken heart, Froggy says some encouraging words “It doesn’t matter how greatly you’ve been hurt or how much you’re hurting, it’s what you do with the pain that counts. You could cry for years, and rightfully so, or you could choose to learn and grow from it”

As the twins and their grandmother catched up, she explained that she and their dad were both from the Land of Stories; after the story telling, she kept her promise and turned Froggy back into a human, everyone was shocked to learn that he was the lost charming brother. And so they went back home, for a Happily Ever After.
