Main characters:

Tonya Hailey : Tonya Hailey is the ten-year-old daughter of Carl Lee who was raped.

and he was the one who gave everything in his power to help Carly.

Carl Lee Hailey : The father of Tonya. Enraged by the attack on his daughter, he kills her two rapists with an M-16 and is charged with murder.

Sitting :

The story takes place in the fictional town of Clanton, in the equally fictional county of Ford, Mississippi in the 1980.

Plot( Sequence of events):

In Canton, ten-year-old African-American girl Tonya Hayley is kidnapped, raped, and beaten by two local white men, Billy Ray Cobb and James Willard, while on her way home. The duo throws her into a nearby river after a failed attempt to hang her. Tonya survives, and the two men are arrested by Sheriff Ozzie Walls.

Tonya’s father, Carl Lee Healy, contacts Jake Brigance, the white attorney who previously defended his brother Lester. Brigance acknowledges the possibility that rapists can commit rape. Carl Lee goes to the county courthouse and opens fire with an automatic rifle, killing the two rapists and inadvertently wounding Deputy Dwayne Looney, who later has her leg amputated. Carl Lee is arrested and Brigance agrees to defend him,and then he becomes free.

Main idea:

A girl was raped while returning home by two people, and the problem expanded and reached the stage of murder to defend the honor of the family.

My opinion:

In my opinion, the father should have thought carefully before he was killed, as the court takes the rights of the people, and punishes the violators with appropriate penalties according to the law, as this method contributes to solving difficult problems, unlike killing, which leads to an increase in the problem.
