I heard that Danny Seal was organizing a cool conference so I flew to London.
BA asked me what I would like to do. I told them “I would like to be in business class drinking champagne.”
They are better at asking questions than answering them.
Getting across London was more difficult than getting to London. Apparently Danny’s events are quite popular.
I arrived at Canary Wharf. No canaries and no wharf. I did find Danny’s conference though.
Actually, an un-conference. On becoming un-bound.
At first I was un-impressed. The view from the 39th floor was ok, but I coudn’t see the parliament buildings.
I met Samir Rath. His book on start-ups is only number four on Amazon. I asked him who the other three were.
Lots of people came to become un-bound as well. The people from Great Britain were very nicely dressed, polite and sat in rows.
They clearly need more un-conferences like these.
There were a few French people there too, such as Stephanie and Marc. French people become un-bound very easily and don’t need such un-conferences (just look at the picture, I am the normal one in the middle). I wondered why they came. So did they. Marc disappeared. Stephanie stayed to try and find out why.
Anna came. I asked her why. She told me that she organized it. I guess that is a good reason. She begged me for a selfie. What else could I do but oblige her?
At un-conferences, the participants create their own content. There is a big white board and people suggest topics for discussion.
For example, you could hold a discussion on the currant situation in the Middle East.
Someone did.
I learned a lot at the meeting. Did you know, for example, that Yossi Vardi is left-handed?
We should have an un-conference about left-handed people. For left-handed people. By left-handed people. I will speak to him.
I learned that Eric van der Kleij is a very generous person.
See what I mean?
I spoke to the Lord* and even met an angel. Now, I’m sure you’ll agree, that doesn’t happen every day!!!
*Lord Jim Knight, why, what were you thinking?
So a big thank you to Danny, Anthony, Anna, Yossi, Eric, to the sponsors, and the amazing people I met. An un-deniably un-forgettable event!
So Stephanie, now do you know why you came?
