Little brown squirrel’s purple tree

Once upon a time, in a faraway forest, the sun rose high above the trees.
It was still early in the morning but little brown squirrel was already up – today he would go to the little animals’ school for the first time! He was so excited, he kept jumping up and down.

Teacher Rabbit, little brown squirrel’s first grade teacher, asked the class to draw a big tree.

Little brown squirrel was so happy, he loved drawing. He drew a BIG, magical, PURPLE tree.

“Trees are not purple! Flowers are purple, grapes are purple, but tress? Have you ever seen a purple tree?” Reproached teacher Rabbit, and didn’t hang little brown squirrel’s drawing along with the rest of the class’ drawings on the drawing wall for everyone to see.

Little squirrel went sadly back to his little chair, counting the swish swish swishes of his fury tail dragging on the ground.

With a black crayon, nightfall came to his big purple tree, in the middle of the afternoon.

Time went by and little brown squirrel was now not-so-little brown squirrel, on his first day of second grade.

It was late in the morning and not-so-little brown squirrel was still asleep. He wasn’t so excited anymore, he wasn’t jumping up and down.
“Hurry up, not-so-little brown squirrel, school will be starting shortly. Don’t you want to meet your second grade teacher, Mrs. Owl?” Said big brown Mother squirrel.

Not-so-little brown squirrel woke up and walked slowly to the not-so-little animals’ school.

In the not-so-little animals’ second grade, teacher Owl said to draw anything, she didn’t care what.

Not-so-little brown squirrel left his paper blank. Teacher Owl came around to his not-so-little desk. His heart beat like heavy rain drops hitting the ground.

She touched his furry head with her big wings and in a soft voice said quietly in his not-so-little ear:

“The snowfall
how clean
and white
and beautiful”

and she hung not-so-little brown squirrel’s drawing along with the rest of the class’ drawings on the drawing wall for everyone to see.
