Venus is the second planet from the Sun and is Earth’s closest planetary neighbor. It’s one of the four inner, terrestrial (or rocky) planets, and it’s often called Earth’s twin because it’s similar in size and density. These are not identical twins, however – there are radical differences between the two worlds.
كوكب الزهرة هو الكوكب الثاني من الشمس وهو أقرب الكواكب المجاورة للأرض. إنه واحد من أربعة كواكب داخلية أو أرضية (أو صخرية) ، وغالبًا ما يطلق عليه توأم الأرض لأنه متشابه في الحجم والكثافة. هذان ليسا توأمان متطابقين – هناك اختلافات جذرية بين العالمين.

Venus has a thick, toxic atmosphere filled with carbon dioxide and it’s perpetually shrouded in thick, yellowish clouds of sulfuric acid that trap heat, causing a runaway greenhouse effect. It’s the hottest planet in our solar system, even though Mercury is closer to the Sun.

It’s a cloud-swaddled planet named for a love goddess, often called Earth’s twin. But pull up a bit closer, and Venus turns hellish. Our nearest planetary neighbor, the second planet from the Sun, has a surface hot enough to melt lead. The atmosphere is so thick that, from the surface, the Sun is just a smear of light.
