TranscribeMe offers unique job opportunities to people around the world. Our crowd-sourced transcription jobs are fully remote, and the pathways transcribers can take offer several options. Read more to learn about the different jobs and rates, our opportunities for growth, where we advertise jobs, and our social media presence.
The first step to becoming a transcriber is registering here for our platform. Once transcribers have passed the entrance exam and have been accepted onto our work hub platform, they can begin their work as an entry-level transcriber on the jobs that are available to them in the general pool where the pay rate starts at US$15 per audio hour. From there, there are pathways to expand the work available to them by way of transcriber, quality assurer, and reviewer positions.
Our transcribers (or TRs) work on short chunks of audio taken from the main audio. Quality Assurers (or QAs) receive the full audio once it is transcribed and work to ensure it is correct and accurate and add timestamps and speaker IDs as needed. Reviewers are given their position by invitation only and are there to review the quality of work from our QAs.
For those who wish to expand their work availability and/or increase their pay rates, we provide exams to test their preparedness to move into other teams. Once TRs are in the general pool, there are opportunities to join our specialty teams. We have several!
Our English Accent teams include Aussie, Kiwi, British, Scottish, and Irish. Although the accent teams do not have a rate increase, they do open up more work opportunities. In First Draft Champions the rate increases to US$22 per audio hour. In TME Plus which is our Special Styles team the rate increases to US$25 per audio hour. Our Medical team opens only as needed.
These teams and our QA teams all have various requirements to meet in addition to passing their respective exams. Further information can be found in our TranscribeMe Special Opportunities document in the TM Library.
In general, our Quality Assurers are responsible for the entire file’s consistency, accuracy, and timestamps/speaker IDs. The First Draft Stampers team is slightly different bc this team is responsible for adding timestamps to First Draft Plus files. The pay rate for this starts at $7 per audio hour. The QA roles which are responsible for the entire file include: 2-Step QA, where the pay rates are $23 per AH for typical files and $35 per AH for RUSH files (this team receives audios transcribed by our Transcribers); ASR QA, which pays $25 per AH (this team receives files which are transcribed by our ASR); and Quickstep QA, where the pay rate is $40 per AH (this team will both transcribe and QA the entire file from start to finish).
There are still even more opportunities for advancement beyond these QA levels. We also have a full verbatim QA team which pays at a rate of $50 per AH and our invitation-only Reviewer team which pays at a rate of $27 per AH or $13.50 for snippet reviews.
