Yanki Margalit threw a party in his backyard. For the good people. The people who care. Those who spend years developing programs to further coexsistence, to reclaim the homeless, to teach, help, mentor.
When I arrived the band (their name in Hebrew פשוטי העם meaning, simply, the Simple People of the Street) was finishing their sound and balance. They were so good, I couldn’t wait for the actual performance and captured this video. They are amazing!
When you network with good people, magic happens. Magic for me was meeting Dr. Erez Garty, who heads the science communications at the Davidson Institute, a non-profit for sharing love of science. I thought I recognized him. Turns out I studied chemistry with his late father 45 years ago.
One by one, heads of various initiatives got up and talked about what they are doing to help others.
An evening with friends trying, each in his or her, way to make the world a little bit better. Are we well meaning, naive, or both?
Whatever the answer, these are the people I prefer to be with.
People were moved. Alliances were formed. Money was raised.
And I got to reconnect with a cousin whom I had not seen since 1972.
So thank you Yanki! Your generosity of spirit is infectious.
An infection that deserves to be spread!!
