The revenge
Here is the new pitch for the new season of Peaky Blinders. Please do not reveal the new script under any circumstances before it has been published.
Firstly, the story will take place after the Second World War, in the heart of Birmingham in the UK, in the suburbs and streets of this city, with a landscape full of factories and smoke. The action takes place in an atmosphere of decadence and despair in 1946, one year after the end of the war.

The series’ new character is a Afro American who lives in Birmingham throughout his childhood and adolescence. He lives in the city’s slums. At the time, in order to survive this life of uncertainty and poverty, and to help his family feed themselves, he decides to set up as an arms and machine-gun smuggler, serving dishonest people. In the evenings, he would go to bars to gamble and make bets. One winter’s evening, he meets the 17-year-old Thomas Shelby and gives him a loan so he could continue gambling. However, 2 months later, Thomas Shelby finds him and threatens him with a gun to his head to get his money back.
He got the fright of his life, thinking he would never see his family again. To humiliate him, and because he could not pay the loan back, he forces him to undress and then beat him violently.
Only 2 days later, the smoke awakens him. Members of Thomas Shelby’s group set fire to the place where he and his family live. This upends his way of being forever and ruins his life. He has to flee to Canada not to be in the grip of them until the end of the war. He fights alongside the Americans in the Second World War, so in 1946, he is a former soldier. He is upended and is haunted by the images he has seen during the war.
Fuelled by a desire of revenge that dates back to this event, he decides to do everything in his power to come back to Birmingham and to take his revenge on Thomas Shelby, the hoodlum.
Once there, he manages to find out from a child working at the Lucas factory that Tommy is still in Birmingham.
This child tells him all the crimes and thefts he committed, which were published in the press as they grew, as well as the corruption that is gaining ground among the population and more and more police officers, day by day. He tells him that the social order has also been disrupted, and corruption facilitated by large bribes.
Tim Hilton then decides to become a letter carrier to better observe the group’s movements within the city. After a few weeks, he is approached by one of the group’s men. It is the perfect opportunity to finally get his revenge. He quickly wins the trust of the leaders by adopting the same gestures, with an appearance that looks both villain, mean and grim. Gradually, the group comes to regard him as a loyal informer. To defend himself in case of trouble, he adopts the razor blade that he puts under his cap like the others.
One evening, he receives a letter from Thomas Shelby indicating his willingness to meet with him to discuss a future burglary together. It is the perfect opportunity to get rid of him. His nerves are on edge. He can finally take revenge on behalf of the population for all the misdeeds they have committed and wreak havoc and unrest by killing him.
He takes his rifle and conceals it in his large bag, which he uses to distribute parcels and hide letters from Peaky Blinders members. Will he succeed, the audience will find out.
In season 2, the stories of the mobsters in the Peaky Blinders gang intertwines with the life story of a new protagonist forever linked to the Shelby family.
Physically, his fingers are deformed from a war wound, and he has rings on his fingers. He wears a long hood, typical of the period, and always wears a bowler hat to conceal his true identity when he is not with the mob. He has a cigarette at the end of his hand near his face and a reddish scar on the left side of his face.
He seems to have a certain presence, being quite slim and tall. Finally, he has a wooden leg, the result of a war wound on his left leg. He always has a faithful little companion, an unusual little marmoset that he hides in his bag a ouistiti, but which always sticks out its head a little. Indeed, he is mischievous.

Dorothea
In the 1920s, Birmingham was a city in full effervescence and very grim, marked by industrialisation and social tensions. At the heart of this unrest was a mob, the Peaky Blinders, who ruled the streets. This mob was famous because its members wore caps with concealed razor blades, and carried rifles and machine guns.
Among the Peaky Blinders, one woman stood out for her intelligence and daring: Dorothea. She comes from a working class. She is twenty-three years old, blond hair, has blue eyes, she is a villain, hoodlum and her best qualities are being a dissembler and a liar.
When Dorothea was working with them, she wore a dress with a jacket and a bun.
She was no ordinary mobster. She had grown up in the slums of Birmingham, where survival often depended on the ability to fly under the radar.
One day, Dorothea was summoned by Tomas Shelby to his office. ‘Dorothea, I have a special mission for you,’ he said, his piercing eyes fixed on her. ‘We need information from inside the police. You’re going to infiltrate them and steal their information’. The mission was accepted by Dorothea immediately. She knew that this mission was dangerous, but she also saw it as an opportunity to prove her worth and gain Thomas’ complete trust. After months of preparation, Dorothea went to Birmingham police station under the name of Darling, an ambitious young woman determined to serve justice
Thanks to false documents and a perfect false story, she managed to get herself hired as a secretary. She started spying at twenty-three on her birthday.
Sensitive information was quickly discovered by Dorothea. Offensives against the Peaky Blinder were prepared by the police and most importantly on the day of a general strike. After falling many times, the police began to suspect bribery. After a lengthy police investigation. Dorothea was accused of corrupting the police. And unfortunately for the Peaky Blinders, the police got rid of Dorothea/Darling.

A new spy.
It was a rainy and cloudy afternoon. Birmingham’s train station was dived into the grim smoke of surrounding factories. John Peter, the inspector of the city police, was waiting under the pouring rain for a « special agent ». This agent was a part of one of the most important anti-criminal operation the United Kingdom had never seen, created to dismantle mobs all across the country. The Shelby family was one of the biggest criminal organisation in Birmingham, an opportunity for the government to apply its new policies against gangs.
His homologue from London depicted this agent, a young woman, as particulary clever and cunning. He said that despite her beauty and charm, he should keep an eye on her and above all not let her blow her cover by mistake. « She likes thinking she is the main piece of the plan so you will have to deal with her arrogant personnality », said his correspondant, « the fall of the Shelby family is primordial for the achievement of the operation ».
The time was long and the train was late. John was smoking hist last cigarette when he saw the locomotive appear through the fog. The raindrops on his hat avoided him from distinguishing any face shape in the crowd getting of the train. Nonetheless he was approched by the special agent which recognized him despite the rain and the people around. After a simple salutation, he took her in his car then drove to the police station to brief her about the action plan. When they finally arrived and walked to the office, she started introducing herself : her name was Elia Ghasemi, a mesmerizing woman who had fled the Middle-East during the war to join Europe. At the beginnig of her journey, she went to the Balkans then travelled through Western Europe to finally reach Calais and cross the English Channel to join London. She skipped the telling of her carrier path in the police which she called uninteresting.

« Your task will not be easy », said John Peter, « the Shelbys are a really powerful and influent mob here in Birmingham. They count many members and they all know each other. Infiltrating their family may cost your life if you prefer not to follow my advice and orders. » Peter took a dramatic face and continued explaining the plan. As he described the Shelby’s leader, Thomas Shelby, she understood that he was a particulary violent bootlegger even if his official business was bookmaking. The easiest way to enter in contact with him would be to bet during a horse race and then present herself as a rich heiress from London, your cover has been meticulously prepared. Moreover, we are lucky enough to have the biggest horse race of the year taking place in two weeks, just enough time to learn perfectly her cover. « We know some places in which you might be able to find him », said John,
« It is not really important today but you must know more context ». After that, Elia knew that the achievement of the mission depended on her infiltration, charm and persuasion skills. The police officer enhanced the description of the plan during two more hours after which he let her leave the office. She took a cab to go to her hotel on the other side of the city and took some rest in her room.
Even if Elia had to complete this mission, she would like to do it by her own methods, something more direct and punchy. On the next day, she left her room earlier to take a walk in the city under the morning sunshine. At the same time, Thomas Shelby was drinking an Irish Coffee in the pub in which he preferred to go, the barman was part of his gang.
He was listening to the renowned barman’s storytelling but when he started talking about how was the war Thomas hoped one day he could forget everything he saw in France. He was about to stop the barman’s story when an unknown but elegant lady pushed the pub’s doors and walked in silence to finally take a seat next to Thomas. She ordered a tea then turn her starry eyes into Thomas’ and said « Are you the famous Thomas Shelby ? »
