Harry Houdini is a Hungarian-American escape artist, illusionist, stunt performer and mysteriarch, noted for his escape acts.

 

He born in name Erik Weisz, in Budapest, to a Jewish family.

When he became a professional magician he began calling himself “Harry Houdini”.

 

Houdini began his magic career in 1891, but had little success. Houdini initially focused on traditional card tricks. At one point, he billed himself as the “King of Cards”.
He soon began experimenting with escape acts.

Houdini’s big break came in 1899, He focused on the magic of rescue.

 

he appeared and performing escape acts, illusions, card tricks and outdoor stunts, becoming one of the world’s highest paid entertainers. He also became widely known as “The Handcuff King”.

Harry Houdini died of peritonitis, secondary to a ruptured appendix, aged 52. In his final days, he believed that he would recover, but his last words before dying were reportedly, “I’m tired of fighting… I do not want to fight anymore…”
