This book based upon a lesson is specified for First Grade. During the lesson, students will be able to group numbers and complete addition and subtraction problems. Using manipulative’s, the smart board, worksheets, and peer work; students will be able to complete the lesson.

 

Learning Standard(s)

1.OA.5 – Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction

Lesson Objective: Students will count on up to three or more numerals using five- group cards and fingers to track the difference with 80 present accuracy.

 

 

The outcomes of this lesson are to allow the students to group numbers together and the importance of engaging in activities. They will also understand the importance of grouping numbers and the theory of placing them into threes.

Discussion Questions: 

 

1.)  Was there patterns in the problems?

 

2.)Were there any problems that had the same total?

 

3.)How can the totals be the same if we counted on different amounts?

 

4.) Did you like working in groups?

 

5.) Share your favorite part of the lesson.

The next following two pages are the homework assignment. One page will be using subtraction and one will be addition. Please complete them before class tomorrow or by the end of the week.

 

 

Whatever problems your struggling with, keep the ones you do not understand blank and we will review them in class, no worries !!!
