My name is Tyler R. This is my science project on the Amazon Rainforest located in South America, mostly in the country of Brazil. It would be hard to destroy the largest rainforest in the world, right? Wrong, rainforests are being destroyed every year do to fires and deforestation. Rainforests are amazing! They are one of the smallest habitats in the world,but they only take up 4% of the world’s surface, but house more animals than any other habitat. They also house majority of the world’s insects. Some animals that live there live only in the rainforest. Welcome to the rainiest habitat in the world!

The rainforest is an extremely diverse animal habitat. Many of the animals found there are found nowhere else in the world. There are hundreds of different kinds of bugs that live here, they are the bottom of the food web. A food web is a way of showing who eats what. The producers, like plants, are eaten by herbivores, such as monkeys. Then, the herbivores are eaten by the carnivores, like jaguars. The rainforest is a eat or be eaten habitat.

There are so many amazing plants in the Amazon! Bananas grow on banana trees, cocoa beans grow on cocoa trees, and coffee beans grow on coffee trees. Some plants in the rainforest feed on other plants, these plants are called epiphytes. The Amazon, like all other rainforests, are built in layers: forest floor, understory, canopy, and up on top, the emergent layer. There are plenty of plants in the Amazon!

The rainforest has a very unique climate. It is rainy all year long, about 100 inches a year! It is normally hot and humid, due to it being so very close to the equator. Most animals that live in the rainforests is for the moisture in the atmosphere, moist and humid. The rainforest is a hot and humid place!

Rainforests are one of the most diverse habitats in the world. The world’s largest rainforest is the mighty Amazon, in the Amazon basin. There are bugs, frogs, and many plants like ferns and epiphytes. The world would be greatly affected if all the world’s beautiful rainforests disappeared.
