Behave as in Nature

Winter in Israel. In the South and in the desert, it is still hot. In the central plains, it is mild. In the North and in the Jerusalem hills, it is Winter.

Here on our Tel Aviv roof, the lemon tree appears dead and the kumquats and olives are ripening, but not many. Overall, the plants seem weak; the flowers are struggling. To really see the garden, to know what’s going on, it needs a closer look.

These images are the result of the closer look.

It’s the same for our World.

It’s so easy to view everything as bleak, everyone as bad.

The neighbour is out to get you, the ruler to oppress you.

There is little unity, only division and mistrust. And there is social media, which makes it easier to spread the wrong words.

These photos reveal reality. The colours are still there, the leaves are still green; the soil is still fertile.

So also the World. In amongst the bad, there is still good. It requires a mix of gut feeling and optimism to trust.

Many leaders are untrustworthy.

Does that make all decisions bad?

A building crumbles.

Must we rebuild the World?

My uncle has Alzheimer.

Do all uncles forget?

This tin of fruit is contaminated.

Do we close the factory?

The art restorer almost ruined my mother’s portrait.

Do we ban restorers?

Most terrorists are Muslim.

But not all Muslims are terrorists.

Commercially-big films are rubbish.

But some are good.

Did we stop taking pills?

In fact, Thalidomide is now officially approved.

The vicious circles of anti-Semitism and racialism continue to spin their tragic paths.

Which side are you on?

The line between right and wrong is very faint.

The judges are you and me.

And we are fallible.

The press is biased, influenced perhaps by the owners.

But which do you read?

Or have you abandoned the press?

I wonder how many will buy my book?

If the most beautiful place is this deserted island, please don’t mention it..

Even the wrong can have a right answer?

There is no clear right and wrong.

Hence the gut feeling, which itself can be wrong.

Many important decisions in life have a direct effect on those around you. Perhaps those fr whom you are responsible.

You need to take that into consideration.

Doing wrong to another can have a lasting and devastating effect.

Doing right to another is usually worth so much more.

Some do not trust because they think it shows weakness.

Yet so much of trust comes from great strength; the slight letting down of one’s defences.

Give up the battle that is unwinnable.

There will be plenty more battle ahead.
