Recently, I watched the movie The Imitation Game (2014).

Benedict Cumberbatch plays the role of Alan Turing, an English mathematician and computer scientist who during WWII developed Enigma, a machine that was designed to decipher encrypted German messages.

Since I am fascinated by math and computers, I wanted to learn more about Alan Turing.

I’m especially interested in the way that his invention affected the world of computers and the technological revolution.

Alan Turing, in full Alan Mathison Turing, (born June 23, 1912, London, England—died June 7, 1954, Wilmslow, Cheshire), British mathematician and logician who made major contributions to mathematics, cryptanalysis, logic, philosophy, and mathematical biology and also to the new areas later named computer science, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and artificial life.
