Thoth The Scribe Podcast ep#15:Charles (Chuck) Ferrara
“The Idyllic Easel”
Charles Ferrara :”I was so blessed to be interviewed for an Israeli podcast. Guy Dazin who has advanced degrees in art kindly invited me to appear on his podcast. He has interviewed artists and academics from around the world. So, I truly count it an honor that he selected me to be in such good company”.
“Presented my painting to 1SGT Conrad Queen, a member of my church who fought in Iraq”.
Charles Ferrara :”At this evening’s VFW meeting my post members expressed their appreciation for the painting I did and donated in honor of those who served and are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was deeply honored. Sorry for the reflected light off the glass”.
Charles Ferrara :”Coming along slowly with this oil painting depicting quieter times in the Big Apple.
One thing I am beginning to learn—you can overwork a painting. I’m close to saying “done”!
Charles Ferrara :” Just completed a painting in oil I call “Joanie, Queen of the Harbor.” Everyone has a sacred place to get alone with God. I love riding my motorcycle down to the Port Jefferson Harbor overlooking the Long Island Sound. And there to greet me each time is Old Joanie McAllister, sitting there proud as can be. She is a bit worn now after years of service of tugging and pulling; thus, I decided to remove all her rust and imperfections in my painting. Her captain must regularly gently tap the wheel and say, “Well done good and faithful servant.” Something I hope to hear my Captain say one day.”
Charles Ferrara :” Just finished an oil on canvas painting of 1890’s Old New York. Took artistic license in two areas: 1. Placed my family name on corner store, and 2. Placed the present Ireland flag on the sign for McBride’s Pub. Flag was not established until 1922. But hey, how can you have an Irish Pub without the Irish flag we all know?
