What is the vaccine and how does it work?
Viruses, bacteria, etc. that are capable of causing diseases in humans and animals. Biological products developed by purifying the disease-causing properties of microbes or removing the effects of toxins secreted by some microbes are called vaccines. The vaccine is administered to healthy and at-risk people in order to protect people from the disease and the consequences of the disease. With this shape, the body recognizes microbes or toxins that do not harm itself and develops a defense against them.
Thus, when the real microbe is encountered, it fights with the previously developed defense system and the person does not get the disease. This person is now immune to that disease. The immunization that occurs usually stays in the body for a lifetime and when it encounters the disease agent, it fights to render it ineffective.
Immunization is among the most important public health interventions in terms of preventing vaccine-preventable diseases and deaths. Diseases and outbreaks are not seen in societies consisting of individuals who have become immunized by vaccination.
