Ruth’s scroll tells the story of the Elimelech’s family, when Naomi is the mother, due to the drought and the hunger Naomi and Elimelech leaves their home land and moves to Sde Moav.
Naomi’s sons, Mahlon and Chilion, lost their faith in Torah and married two Moabite women- Ruth and Orpah. after some time Elimelech and his sons die, only Naomi and her two
daughters-in-law remain.
after she was left with nothing, Naomi decides to come back for her home land childless, with misery, grief and poverty.
Naomi and Ruth comes back to Beit Lechem. Ruth went to the fields to glean, as she was there, she met Boaz, the owner of the field, he was kind to her because he had heard of her loyalty to her mother-in-law, Boaz is a close relative of Naomi’s husband’s family. Naomi advises Ruth to meet up with Boaz at night and try and make Boaz to marry her, eventually Boaz and Ruth got married and their son was born and they named him Oved, and Naomi becomes his nanny.
a character that we admire and why?
we chose Ruth, because even after her husband’s death, Naomi told her that she can come back to Moav, but Ruth insisted and wanted to stay with Naomi wherever she goes, she’ll be with her.
you can see the diligence in Ruth and her actions,
for example, when Ruth arrives to Beit Lechem she goes straight to the field to collect some wheat without Naomi being the one to tell her.
you can also see Ruth’s modesty after Boaz expresses his appreciation to her, she ignores the good stuff and always answers very modestly. she calls him “sir” and introducing herself as his slave.
Ruth also have the ability of gratitude after Boaz shows her special and loving attitude she bows straight to him and asking him why she deserves such a special treatment, after all she is a foreign women that is not even from Israel.
that’s why we liked Ruth from everyone out of the story.
we’re very happy that we were chosen to be the ones who got the Torah, that we are the chosen nation by our god.
for almost 3500 years, we won it.
we are very grateful for this right and that the Torah is in safe hands, with us in the holy land.
we are happy to learn from the holy Torah and believe in our god. and to win our land with all the miracles that he gave to our people.
we are very proud to be a part of this nation and believe in our god.
