Hi,
my name is Carmélia Almeida and I’m a Special Education Teacher at Agrupamento de Escolas da Batalha – Portugal.
Since 29th January I’ve been participating in Impact EdTech Project Key2Enable AT Educational Platform.
As a teacher my expectations are that students who have more difficulties, namely in terms of communication, motor, and cognitive abilities, could learn more and develop skills that are not possible without the use of technologies.
Although students with complex needs requires additional help to achieve the same goals as typical students, my main objective is to provide them the same opportunities.
Only then will be true inclusion.
Student 1 – cerebral palsy – locomotor disability (uses a wheelchair), muscular dystrophy, speech and Language disability (communicates just with sounds), inattention, emotional/behavioral disability, cognitive disability.
Student 2 – cerebral palsy – Locomotor disability (uses a walker), cognitive disability, emotional disability.
Student 3 – cerebral palsy – Locomotor disability (uses a walker), language disability, emotional/behavioral disability, cognitive disability.

5 stars solution and pilot!
All students liked the solution (the special class and the three students with cerebral palsy chosen to participate in the project).
The apps (Simplix and Expressia) are very useful. The boards are very easy to make, to share, and adapt to other languages.
The Key-X has several functions and it’s very intuitive.
Parents and theratists also liked the solution.
Thank you all that made it possible.
