Let’s listen to the song (Lyrics down)
In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines
So we sailed up to the sun
Till we found a sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
in our yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
And our friends are all aboard
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
(Full speed ahead Mr. Boatswain, full speed ahead
Full speed ahead it is, Sgt. Cut the cable, drop the cable
Aye, Sir, aye Captain, captain)
As we live a life of ease
Every one of us has all we need
Sky of blue and sea of green
In our yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

Let’s go
But, is the song “Yellow Submarine” really a children’s song?
The song received several social and political interpretations in the 1960s.
In the US, the release of “Yellow Submarine” coincided with the band’s public opposition to the Vietnam War, which led some radio stations to impose a ban on the Beatles’ music.
In addition, the song was adopted as an anti-authority statement by the counterculture during Vietnam War demonstrations, and was also appropriated in strike action and other forms of protest.
Shortly after the song’s release Paul McCartney said: ” ‘Yellow Submarine’ is very simple but very different. It’s a fun song, a children’s song. Originally we intended it to be ‘Sparky’ a children’s record. But now it’s the idea of a yellow submarine where all the kids went to have fun. I was just going to sleep one night and thinking if we had a children’s song, it would be nice to be on a yellow submarine where all your friends are with a band.”
What do you think, did Paul McCartney tell the truth?
In my opinion it does not matter, what really matters is the feelings that the song evokes in you, For me it is a fun song that jumps the mood and suitable for children.
