The Amish

The Amish people live in Lancaster county  

The Amish originally come from Europe and Switzerland.

in 1730s the first Amish arrived in Pennsylvania to get out of Europe.

The Amish live in a very different lifestyle then we do nowadays.

they do not have technology, electricity or even cars. they drive around with horses.

they mostly work in the fields and build stuff.

The kids go to school until 8th grade and then they start to work like their parents.

the older people around them are their influence.

The men wear dark pants and suspenders, and solid coloured shirts.

they are not allowed to have a moustache but after they are married they grow out a beard.

the girls wear long dresses with long sleeves and also something that looks like an apron.

they are not allowed to cut their hair or wear jewellery.

people call their clothing Amish customs.

They choose this way of life because they are more interested in family, unity and religion.

they are less interested in all the things that happen outside of their culture like politics…

they really care about the people around them and always care about equality between each other.
