It was a beautiful day in the first grade.
The sun was shining without an ounce of shade.
Mrs. Lohr said, “Okay class, it is time for art!”
I was so excited, I could not wait to start.
My heart was beaming like the shining sun.
My mind was gleaming, art was so much fun!
Mrs. Lohr said, “Class, I want to see what you’ve drawn!”
But she did not like my work, and the sun was gone.
It was a gray day in the second grade.
There were clouds in the sky and there was a lot of shade.
Mr. Barta said, “Class, draw anything you’d like!”
My mind was blank, I felt no light.
I decided to leave my paper white.
Mr. Barta walked over to my row.
I was afraid he thought I had nothing to show.
“Whoa!” he said. “Is this a day in the snow?”
I felt my heart begin to glisten and glow.
I looked out the window and saw no clouds, not one!
It felt so nice to feel the warmth of the sun.
