Once upon a time many years ago in a village lived a little girl, her mother really loved her and her grandmother even more.
Her grandmother made her a little red riding-hood that fitted her so well that everybody called her Little Red Riding-Hood.
One day her mother made some pudding and said to her:
‘Oh, my dear, see how grandma does, I heard she is very sick, carry her some pudding and this little pot of butter’.
Grandma lived in another village.
As she was going through the woods, she met with Gaffer Wolf who was tempted to eat her, but he didn’t because of several woodcutters in the area.
The wolf asked her where she was going to, and she answered ‘I’m going to see my grandmother and give her pudding and a small pot of butter’
‘Does she live far off?’ said the Wolf.
‘Yes’ replied Little Red Riding-Hood
‘Well’, said the wolf ‘I’ll go and see her too. I’ll go this way and you go that way, let’s see who will be there first’.
The wolf started running as fast as he could, he went in the shortest way and the girl went in the longest way.
She was also distracted by collecting nuts, running after butterflies, and picking up flowers that she found on the way.
Not so long after, the wolf arrived to grandma’s house. He knocked the door – tap tap
‘Who’s there?’, grandma said
‘Your granddaughter, Little Red Riding-Hood’, said the wolf, pretending to be Little Red Riding-Hood.
‘I’m here to give you pudding and a small pot of butter that mother sent’
The good grandmother, who was in bed, because she is a little sick, said:
‘Pull the bobbin, and the latch will go up.’
The wolf pulled the bobbin and the door opened.
He fell upon the good woman and ate her up in not time.
Then, he went to grandma’s bed and waited, expecting Little Red Riding-Hood to come.
‘Who’s there?’, the wolf said, this time
Little Red Riding-Hood, hearing the big voice of the Wolf, was at first afraid, but believing her grandmother had got a cold, answered:
‘your grandchild, Little Red Riding-Hood, I brought you pudding and a little pot of butter mamma sent you.’
The wolf said to her, softening his voice as much as he could:
‘Pull the bobbin, and the latch will go up.’
Little Red Riding-Hood pulled the bobbin, and the door opened.
The wolf who saw her come in said when he was hiding under the blanket:
‘Put the pudding and the small pot of butter on the stool and come to the bed’.
‘Grandma, what great arms you have got!’
‘That is so I can hug you better, my dear.’
‘Grandma, what great legs you have got!’
‘That is to run the better, my child.’
‘Grandma, what great ears you have got!’
‘That is to hear the better, my child.’
‘Grandma, what great eyes you have got!’
‘It is to see the better, my child.’
‘Grandma, what great teeth you have got!’
‘That is to eat you up.’
And, saying these words, this wolf fell upon Little Red Riding-Hood, and ate her up.
