The Picture of Dorian Gray

The name of the book is “The Picture of Dorian Gray”.

The Author is Oscar Wilde.

The genre is drama because the main character has a struggle with herself that causes a lot of drama around him and around other people.

I chose this picture because it makes the readers very curious regarding the two different faces in the picture.

The plot

The story begins when a painter, his name is Basil, draws a handsome guy whose name is Dorian Gray. Dorian has a friend – Lord Henry, who teaches him to enjoy the good life as much as he can.

Very quickly Dorian Gray falls in love with this way of life and become a hedonist who thinks only of himself and on the way, he hurts a lot of people.  

At the end of the story, Dorian understood that his behavior was very bed and he wanted to be free from his past. He thought that if he will destroy the picture, he will be free, but it didn’t happen.

Dorian Gray – 

The character of Dorian Gray is described as a handsome young man who loves the good life and thinks only of himself. Throughout the story Dorian begins to behave disgustingly and he hurts all those closest to him. At the end of the story Dorian starts to understand his evil deeds and regrets them. Eventually, he wants to stop the reality in which he lives and He’s trying to destroy the painting that’s changed along with his evil needs. Dorian stabs the picture with a knife, but in fact he killed himself.

Lord Henry  – 

Lord Henry is a character from the high society in London. He educates Dorian and tells him that as he is such a handsome guy, he should enjoy life and take everything it has to offer.  Lord Henry is a good person, and Dorian admirers him.

The character that i like the least is –

The character of Dorian gray because Dorian did some things that he shouldn’t have to do, like: he murdered and caused people to commit suicide because of him.

In my opinion, the book “The Picture of Dorian Gray” is an excellent book. The main character, Dorian, is a young guy and very beautiful, so young readers can connect to him. However, his bed behavior reminds us not to think only about yourself but to respect other people as well. The plot of the story is interesting, with a lot of action and made me very curious about what will be the next act of Dorian.

Therefore, I recommend this book to all readers that like Drama stories.
