Name of the book: Jacob Two-Two’s First Spy Case
Author: Mordecai Richler
Genre: Detective and mystery.
Summary Of The Plot
“Jacob Two-Two’s First Spy Case” takes place in Canada, in 1995. In the beginning of the story, Jacob’s school’s principal gets replaced by an evil man named Greedyguts. After he becomes the principal, weird things happen in the school and everything is messy: from the lessons to the lunch food. Jacob suspects on Greedyguyts, and calls his neighbor, Barnaby Dinglebat, who is an old skilled spy to help him to find out who is really behind all of this, why weird things started to happen and is Greedyguts is the bad guy?
The Main and Secondary Characters
Jacob two-two is the youngest child in his family and he is 8 years old. He has the nickname ‘Jacob two-two, because he repeats everything he says twice until someone notices him. He is a young and a curious character, who likes to solve mysteries with his neighbo, Barnaby Dinglebat. Jacob two-two is also my least favorite character, because most of his jokes are too childish.
Barnaby Dinglebat is Jacob two-two’s neighbor, who helps him throughout the story. He works as a spy for Canada. Barnaby Dinglebat is an old, weird and a funny character who uses old spying techniques.
A New Cover For The Book
The background colors are really colorful, because there is a lot of humor in the book.
I painted a school and the Canadian flag in the background, because the mystery takes place in Jacob’s school which is in Montreal, Canada.
I drew the spy Barnaby Dinglebat with black and white colors, because he represents the ‘old generations of spies’, and I drew Jacob in colors, because he represents the ‘future generations of spies.
Recommendation Of The Book
I recommend the book “Jacob Two-Two’s First Spy Case”, because the book is an interesting detective and mystery story, and in the same time there is a lot of humor.
The book contains funny mysteries and fun missions that the reader can do. For example, sometimes, there are secret notes that are written in a mirror drawing, and the reader has to go to a mirror with the book and understand what does the writing mean.
I would rate the book 5/5 for 8th graders, because the book contains a good story, funny characters, good villains and jokes.
