Using Scrumbir to teach EFL students writing skills

We chose the digital tool Scrumbir to teach EFL students writing skills. Scrumbir is a free online bulletin board you can type information on each new card you make and drag it into place. In addition, students can share a link to their board and other students can add sticky notes to it.

Scrumbir has a few advantages for students to learn writing skills. This tool is good for practicing writing in English. Students create a board by writing words sentences (depends on the assignment they were given). The students send their teacher a link and she can rearrange the notes, write corrections and send it back to the student to correct his work. For example, the students are requested to write sentences about their summer vacation. After writing they need to send the board to their teacher, that way the teacher can see where each student is standing in the writing skills material, and she can teach each student the writing skill he needs to improve his writing.

Although Scrumblir has advantages to teach writing skills it also has disadvantages. One disadvantage this tool has is that the students do not practice continues writing. Students can only practice writing words or sentences but not essays, which are necessary for practicing writing and showing the ability to express yourself in writing. However, this tool is used for learning the base of the writing skills, like writing words correctly, putting together sentences correctly. After learning the base, the students can go on and write an essay with a different tool. The base of the writing is the most important and this tool helps to develop it.
