– My story in Chernobyl –

 The beginning 

It is April 26 , 1986 .

Im looking out of my window and i see the evening sky lit in a weird purple glow , the glow comes from the direction of the nuclear power plant near Pripyat wich is near my town .

At the beginning i had no idea what happened , nobody told us anything .

Suddenly , in the middle of the night , my uncel Yevgeniy called from Moscow , he worked there as a surgeon in a Russian hospital

He told my mom to pack important stuff like water and personal documents and get lost immediately .

He said not to ask any questions and come to Moscow as soon as possible .

My mom did as he said and we left Chernobyl forever !

Only when we met him in Moscow at his home , he told us the teribble news : there was a disastrous explosion in unit 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and the region became heavily contaminated by radioactive debris .

 The results                                                   26 April , 2001

Today is 15 years since the teribble disaster of Chernobyl power plant .

Now everybody knows about the gruesome results of this disaster .

Thousands of people died of radiation disease and its influence on human body . Many people became sick with verious kinds of cancer and a lot of children were born with deformities .

The radioactive cloud created by the explosion reached as far as Scandinavia and other parts of Europe , tens of thousands of Chernobyl and Pripyat inhabitans lost their homes , the whole area was declared an exclusion zone .

The infamous unit 4 reactor had to be burried under thousands  of tons of concrete and steel .

It will take hundreds of years to fix this huge damage .

Our visit 

Today is 31 of October , 2010 .

We are packing our luggage  and getting ready for our flight to Kiev on our way to visit our homeland .

It took our family 24 years to get over the big trauma .

The flight to Kiev was unventful and we reached Chernobyl the next day .

Visiting the places after the explosion and after so many years was hard , frustrating and painful  because it’s my home after all .

Everything was destroyed , derelict and almot no one lives here anymore .

The place was unrecognizable , the buldings were falling apart and many houses were in ruins .

All the parks that were once so beautiful are ugly and unkempt now .

I had a very strange feeling , i was scared and sad but im glad im came to reach a clousure .
