Air pollution is a serious issue in today’s society. Emissions from factories, cars, burning materials, or planes pollute the air, making it hard to breathe. These gases also trap heat down in the atmosphere. This usually happens in cities, which are more densely populated and have more objects that can pollute the air.

If animals or humans breathe in any of the pollutants, it can lead to organ injury, decreased immunity against disease, cardiovascular problems, and possibly death if severe enough. Acid rain, which is caused by air pollution, affects the ecosystem of an animal. It can change the makeup of the soil and water. One example of this is that water can become too acidic for most animals to live in.

The Industrial Revolution of the mid 19th century led to an increase in emissions due to increased manufacturing. By the mid 20th century, the Earth was starting to feel the effects of pollution. A movement for protecting the environment started in the 1960’s, causing legislation to pass. Some examples of laws that were passed were the Clean Air Act (1970), and Clear Water Act (1972).
5
One solution to this problem is using electric cars instead of normal cars. Electric cars have zero emissions, except when produced, although this can be solved by producing them with power from solar panels. Once you do this, then electric cars will have zero emissions which will reduce a huge chunk of emissions. Some materials you would need are batteries for the cars, and materials for the cars.
7
Some companies, like Tesla, which is run by Elon Musk, have already made electric cars. One thing that gets in the way of electric cars, is that their mileage isn’t as good as cars that run on gasoline yet, although they are getting closer, and closer.
8
You could place charging stations all around the world to recharge your car. These would also be powered with solar panels. This would also help the earth, as we will interfere less, since we will get less oil from the Earth.
