Short Biography

Prof. Rosenberg received his B.Sc. in chemistry and biochemistry from Hebrew University in 1973, his M.Sc. (Botany, 1975), and Ph.D. (Microbiology, 1982) from Tel Aviv University.

He joined the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University as a lecturer in 1983 and remained until taking early retirement in 2009. He became associate professor in 1991 and full professor in 1997.

He has published over a hundred scientific articles, reviews and books, has received international awards and held honorary academic positions at the University of London, Univerity of Pennsylvania, University of Toronto and University of Rochester. Prof. Rosenberg has delivered lectures and seminars around the world to scientists, physicians, dentists, and the general public. His research, primarily on the diagnosis and treatment of halitosis, has featured internationally on television, and in the printed press (New Scientist, CNN, BBC, CBC, Times of London, and Vogue).

His basic and applied research has led to a series of inventions, several of them commercialized by Tel-Aviv University, yielding several million dollars in royalties and licensing fees.

Since 1987 Prof. Rosenberg has acted as a consultant to national and international companies. He organized international meetings, initiated an international scientific organization (International Society for Breath Odor Research), was editor in several scientific journals and was editor-in-chief of an international scientific journal (Journal of Breath Research).

After taking an early retirement from Tel Aviv University, Prof. Rosenberg served as Dean of Students at Afeka Tel Aviv College of Engineering (2009-2011) where he organized conferences and events related to innovation, and taught creative thinking and entrepreneurship.

Since December 2011, Prof. Rosenberg has been active at Holon Institute of Technology, where he has initiated a wide variety of activities, including national and international events (including TEDx youth), hosted international guests, coordinated the establishment of the science park, and organized musical performances and student projects. He is now head of the center for innovation.
