Hello everyone!
My name is Lucy! I am 7 years old and my favorite color is yellow. My favorite season is spring and my favorite food is strawberries. I have recently learned a lot about how trees grow and I want to share with you guys my story about my lemon tree.
The first thing when planting a garden is making sure the soil is nice and soft for the plants and seeds to grow. I helped my dad get all of the soil ready.
After that, Mom and I went to the store to start planting the garden. Its starting to get warm out so its the perfect time to do it! While we were at the planting store I picked out the seeds that I wanted and mom got the ones she wanted.
We got home and sorted out the plants and seeds. As we were beginning to plant I realized I grabbed the wrong plant. It was suppose to be a pack of strawberry seeds but it turns out I got lemon seeds instead. I was so disappointed.
All I wanted was to grow strawberries because they are my favorite food ever! Now I have to plant a lemon tree. Ugh!!
I pushed the soil aside and layered my lemon tree seeds in the hole. I pushed the soil back and watered my little seeds. Now I just have to wait for them to grow.
One thing that’s important to remember when you are planting things in your garden is that it takes time. Patience is key to a good garden!
Everyday my mom and I watered our plants and hoped that they would grow soon!
Two weeks later…
Hi guys! I have been waiting to show you all how much progress my baby lemon tree is making. Look! It’s not a huge tree yet but its definitely making progress. In a couple weeks there will be baby lemons on it and I can’t wait.
I have been watering the tree twice a day for around three weeks now and we finally have tiny lemons. Moms plants are all growing and the garden is looking great. Soon we will be able to make sweet lemonade with my lemons! I am so proud of how far my tree has come!
One week later…
They’re here! They’re finally here! My baby lemons are becoming little medium sized lemons! Look how cute they are! The tree is so strong and the lemons are looking bright as ever!
The day has finally come! It’s time to make lemonade! I pick five big juicy lemons from my cute tree and take them inside. I push all the juice out of the lemons, add some water, and sugar. I mix it all together and then we have a whole pitcher of fresh lemonade.
Dad, Mom, and I pour a glass of my homemade lemonade and sit on the back porch. While staring at my beautiful lemon tree and our amazing garden. All of the time and hard work payed off. Even though I wanted strawberries I couldn’t imagine not having my lemon tree.
Next year I think I’m going to try an apple tree. We will have to see how that goes!
Until next year,
Lucy
