Types of AI:

Artificial Intelligence is still evolving as it is considerably new. There are four main types of AI –

Reactive Machines – this is the basic AI system and can identify things based on data. But has no memory or past data to make decisions. For instance, IBM’s chess-playing supercomputer can identify chess pieces. It cannot predict the next move based on experience.

Theory of Mind – this refers to the theory that desires and beliefs can impact decision-making. It is one of the most crucial factors for building machines.

Limited Memory – contrary to Reactive Machines, they can implement experience to predict future decisions. This technology is prevalent in autonomous vehicles.

Self-Awareness – this refers to self-conscious robots. Machines with self-awareness or ‘feelings’ is still an ongoing process.

Academic Requirements:

To pursue a degree in Artificial Intelligence, candidates must have a good grip in algebra, calculus, algorithm, and statistics. They must have Mathematics in higher secondary to become eligible for AI. Also, knowledge of languages like Java and C is important.

For a degree in Artificial Intelligence –

Candidate must have a minimum of 55% score in graduation. B. E, B. Tech and B.sc degree holders can apply as well. Mathematics should be one of their core subjects.

Students who have appeared for the final year’s examination are applicable for the course.

Eligible candidates can submit applications to institutes offering an M.sc degree in AI. The admission process includes an entrance examination, group discussion and the final round of interviews.
