More and more people these days are under quarantine, confined to their homes because of concerns over the COVID-19 Corona virus. But don’t worry a bit. Here are my best tips for what to do if you are stuck at home for a while.

First of all, now is the time for you to write that book. I mean it. We all have one or more books in us. So write yours. Use the Ourboox platform while it is still completely free. Write your heart out. Add pictures. Embed videos. If you need a topic, how about “My Favorite Things” or “Memories of my Favorite Pet”. Start now.

Learn to play a new instrument. Now is the best time to take up the piano, guitar, saxophone, drums, bass. You can learn to play an instrument at any age. I learned to play sax at 41 and performed for twenty years.

Or learn to sing. Lots of people have fine singing voices and just need to develop them. So stop being self conscious and belt it out. After all, who else is going to hear you practising?

Get rid of unwanted baggage. We all have so much junk around the house, clothes that we can donate. Now is the time to rummage through your belongings and send the things you don’t need to a rummage.

Learn a new language. Now’s the time. There are so many online courses and apps available. Learning a new language is good for our brains and social awareness. It helps us learn about others cultures, and communicate with new people. Highly recommended!

Read the books you’ve put on hold over the past months. Reread The Little Prince.

Do some good deeds. Helping others is a real picker-upper.

Talk to your loved ones. Time goes by and people age. And when they are gone, it’s forever, then it’s too late to tell them how much you love them, ask forgiveness for a past transgression, send flowers. Do it now.

Exercise at home. Keep your body in shape. Climb the stairs (up and down). Stretch. Keeping your body nimble will help keep you in shape for when you can go back outside and conquer the world!

Use the time to start improving your diet. Veggies, fruits, grains, you know. Resist the feel-good carbs and start to eat healthy.
