This is an intriguing lesson because it provides only one side of the coin. Byzantium over the centuries became Greek oriented in terms of language, religion and culture. To call Byzantium Rome would be somewhat like calling the US the UK, five hundred years from now. I’m not a historian, but this lesson might have worked better in a debate format (similar to other TED-Ed lessons such as that on Augustus).
