The story of Ruth and Naomi by Yuval Cohen - Illustrated by Yuval .C. and Tamar .H. - Ourboox.com

Once upon a time, there was a little family in Israel who was very rich and famous in the community.

It was a little family: father, mother and two sons.

It was hard time in Israel in those years, the people were starving for food.

Elimelech, the father of the family, was very stingy man, and he was terrified that people would ask him for donations.

So he decided to move to Moav, until things will get better in Israel.

After a short while Elimelech died As punishment for his stinginess.

Elimelech’s sons spent the time to marry the princesses of Moav, Ruth and Aorpa (ערפה).

A few years later Elimelech’s sons died, and left their mother, Naomi, alone.

After ten years, the tough time in Israel passed away and Naomi decided to go back to Israel.

Ruth and Aorpa want to go with her to Israel so that she won’t be alone.

Naomi tried to convinced them change their mind and not follow her to Israel.

Aorpa is convinced, and stayed in Moav.

Ruth is not listening to Naomi’s advice, and keep following Naomi.

When they arrived to Israel the local people were surprised to see Naomi, the rich and trim woman, to the woman she turned to be tdoay, poor, with dirty clothes and going with a stranger girl from Moav.

Naomi must start over her life as a bum, old and poor lady.

But lucky Naomi!, she came back to Israel at the same time of the “Harvest season”.

In this season, the fallen crops are belong to the poor people, and that why she won’t be hungry at this time.

Ruth is going to the field to collect the fallen crops.

While Ruth picks up the crops, Boaz, the owner of the field, notice her and start to ask about her, “who is that mistory girl? I have never seen her before in my field, I want to know more about her”.

In that day Boaz is offering her to work in his field every day, Ruth agreed!

When she came back to Naomi’s house, she told naomi about her day.

Naomi is very excited to hear about Boaz, and she is starting to match them.

Boaz is going to sleep in the field, and Naomi sent Ruth to sleep next to him, and propose him.

In the middle of the night Boaz wake up and find someone next to him, he can recognize that it’s a woman, but he doesn’t know who she is.

He wakes the stranger, and find out that it was Ruth!

He ask her “what are you doing here?!”

Ruth told him that she came here to propose him, Boaz said YES!

But there is a problem.

Elimelech’s brother successor all of his brother’s property, and in those the women were propety too.

Boaz ask him if he want Ruth, he refuses.

Boaz and Ruth got married, and they lived happily ever after but not to this day. (hahaha just kidding(;)

We admire Aorpa,

Because somtimes you have to know when let go.

It is very hard but also important.

It seems like she is not devoted and loving as Ruth, but she just knew when she has to let go, and she actually did what Naomi ask for.

Eccepting the Torah mean to us to eccept and appreciate our past, our culture, our religion and be proud of who we are!

Also we have to remember who we were before we have it all, (our country, our army…).
