Sand Bird

Sand Bird is a special bird that eats red flowers and is the only one of its kind in the world. Sand Bird lives all the year in South Africa. 

Alfred is a rich hunter. His home is full of heads of animals that he hunted and killed.

One day Alfred walked into a shop. He heard a story about Sand Bird. Sand Bird was a bird that was worth a lot of money and if you caught Sand Bird you could sell the bird. Alfred started to hunt every day. He searched everywhere in South Africa, but without luck. He was very sad.

One day Alfred found Sand Bird. He took his hunting gun and fired shots. The first bullet hit and killed Sand Bird. Alfred started running towards where he thought Sand Bird had fallen.

A family that liked animals heard the noise of the shooting and ran towards the sound. The family found Sand Bird laying dead on the ground. The family was sad. They brought special water from the Loesy river on an island. The water gives your life back if you loose it. They splashed the water on Sand Bird and Sand Bird came back to life.

Sand Bird was happy as ever. The family is now hiding Sand Bird so that people won’t shoot him again.
