zoo clown

Christina Peter is a clown. She works at the zoo in Krefeld, Germany.

She doesn’t entertain the zoo’s visitors- her job is to entertain the monkeys!

Christina preforms for the chimpanzees, gorillas, and other monkeys at the zoo, and makes games and puzzles for them.

The monkeys loves Christina’s visits, and become very excited when they see her.

It all started when the veterinarians at Krefeld Zoo complained that the monkeys had nothing to do. They said that the monkeys were aggressive or sick more often when they were bored.

The zoo director found a creative and unusual solution to the problem.

He decided to hire a clown to keep the monkeys busy, happy, and healthy.

Christina was happy to take the job of official monkey clown at the zoo.

She says: “when I was young, I would go to a zoo and see animals.

A lot of them looked bored, and that made me feel very sad.

Doing this makes me feel good because I am making their lives as

comfortable as possible”

Animals that have something to do are happier and more balanced”

With Christina keeping the monkeys busy,

the veterinarians at Krefeld Zoo can already see that this is true!
