When the doctor arrived Jim helped Tom to get up from the ground and sit up on a chair attached to the raft. The bullet that had hit him luckily had not gone deep and the doctor took it off. Tom screamed but after a few minutes, he was fine. In fact, he didn’t go to the hospital. In the next few days, Jim, Tom and I sailed along the river, but we don’t see any interesting place; there was only a lot of tree and some house. After five days we reached Cairo in Illinois where we stayed together until we didn’t find a job. We still live in Cairo, I’m a Carpenter and I transport the wood in all the cities, especially in the colder months; Jim drives a steamboat along the river with his son Jack that is 21 years old and Tom works in a bank and in the spare time he gives help in a little library bookshop.
