Italy

Italy sent 71 men to the Olympics. They also sent 49 women to the Olympics. They sent 120 Olympians in total. These are the sports that the Italians are competing in: Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Cross-country skiing, Curling, Figure skating, Freestyle skiing, Luge, Nordic combined, Short track speed skating, Skeleton, Ski jumping, Snowboarding, Speed skating and Alpine skiing.
One of the sports they are competing in is Bobsleigh. It is a sports where 2 or 4 people go down a twisted ice track in a sled. It is very dangerous. In bobsleigh they have a couple of runs that are timed. Whoever has the least time overall wins.
Simone Fontana is 26 years old. He is representing Italy in the 2018 Olympics. Simone was in the air force. He started learning how to bobsleigh when he was 19 years old. His father was also in the Olympics for cross country skiing.
Italy
Ariella Arussi and Noa Wener
There are 122 athletes. They’re competing in: alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, cross country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, luge, Nordic combined, short track speed skating, skeleton, ski jumping, snowboarding and speed skating. In the first 5 days they won 3 medals: 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
Figure skating: Figure skating is a sport that is in single or pairs. The events are: men’s single, women’s single and pairs. This sport was the first winter sport in the Olympics in the year 1908.
Valentina Marchei: Valentina Marchei skates with Oderj Hotarek in pairs. She was born in the year 1986, on the 23rd of May. She is an Italian figure skater. They finished in 6th place.
Canada
Naama and Shoshana
Canada sent 226 athletes to compete in the Winter Olympics. Canada will be participating in all the games except Nordic combined. They will be participating in fourteen out of the fifteen games.
Canada will be playing ice hockey. It is played in an ice rink. It is a team sport.
Emily Clark is one of the players for the women’s ice hockey team in Canada. She was born November 28th, 1995 in Canada. In 2014 she joined the Wisconsin Badgers ice hockey team.
USA

The United States of America has 242 athletes playing in the 2018 Olympics. USA has athletes playing in 15 different sports. There are 134 men and 108 women competing.
12 men’s teams will be playing ice hockey in the 2018 Olympics. 8 women’s teams will be playing ice hockey, as well. There are 2 ice hockey rinks: The Gangneung Hockey Centre, which will seat 10,000, and the Kwandong Hockey Centre, which will seat 6,000.
Bobby (Robert) Butler was born on April 26th, 1987. He is a professional hockey player for the Milwaukee Admirals. This is the first time Bobby Butler is in the Olympics.
USA

The United States of America played in 14 sports in the Winter Olympics. 241 athletes divided into 14 groups/sports represented the USA. They competed in skiing and skating and other winter sports.
The USA competed in speed skating. You need to skate and race at the same time. You need to be very careful not to fall when you’re leaning down and touching the flags on the rink.
Joey Mantia is an American speed skating Olympian, 28-time world champion and world record holder. Apart from his world titles, he won 2 gold medals at the 2007 Pan-American Games and won the America Speed Skater of the Year award three times – in 2005, 2006 and 2007. After winning 2 world titles at the Inline Championships in Columbia, he ended up coming in second in the USOC Athlete of the Month competitions.
United States of America
AJ Emmer and Adir Weisbrod
The USA sent 242 athletes to the Olympics. They came from 31 states. Some of the sports being played as ice hockey, skiing, bobsledding, ice dancing and figure skating.
Ice Hockey is the sport we chose to describe. It is a team sport that is played on the ice. There are five players that play this sport at one time.
We chose to follow Jonathan Blum as our athlete. He is representing the USA ice hockey team even though he was really born in Canada. He plays defense as his position on the team.
WINTER OLYMPYCS 2018 FOR THE USA

242 athletes are competing in the Winter Olympics. The sports they’re competing in are: Alpine Skating. Biathlon. Bobsleigh. Cross-country skiing. Curling. Figure skating. Free style Skating. Ice hockey. Luge. Nordine combined. Short-track Speed Skating. Skeleton. Ski Jumping. Snowboarding. and Speed Skating.
We chose ice hockey. It is played on ice. There are two teams on each side of the rink. There are two goalies for each team.
Using a hockey stick, you try to get the ball into the goal.
Our country won 23 medals.
Sweden
Avigail and Penina
Sweden has 116 athletes at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Sweden is competing in 9 sports. In the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Sweden won 15 Olympic medals.
One of the sports the country is competing in is: cross-country skiing. It takes place in snow. You wear skies and you hold on to poles to help you move across a large area with snow.
Marina Charlotte Kalla is a Swedish Cross Country Skier. She was born July 22, 1987 and she is 30 years old. She was at the 2010 Olympics, 2014 Olympics and now she is competing in the 2018 Olympics.
Germany
Atida and Ma’ayan
Germany sent 153 competitors to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. Germany will compete in 13 different sports. In 2014 Germany won:8 gold medals, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals in total 19 medals
Ski jumping – 5 men playing and 4 woman playing in the games. Ski jumping is on snow and not a team game. The competitors will ski down Normal hill.
Andreas Wellinger is a German champion ski jumper. He was born on August 28th 1995 (22 years old). He is a world champion ski jumper.
Germany
Maya Waxman and Rachel Libaton
Germany sent 153 athletes which are playing in 14 sports. Some of the sports that they are competing in are figure skating, skeleton and speed skating. Eric Frenzel was their flag carrier at the opening ceremony.
Figure skating is a beautiful sport. It is played on ice. It is like dancing on ice.
We chose Nicole Schott. She was born in Germany in 1966 . Her sister and her father are also into skating. She has skated for Germany a lot.
Norway
Eliana Simckes, Zohar Kamsler
Norway is competing in 11 events: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, curling, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, Nordic combined, ski jumping, snowboarding, skeleton, and speed skating. Norway has a total of 109 athletes participating in the games – there are 27 women and 82 men. Norway has competed in all of the 23 games of the winter Olympics since 1924. Norway has won medals in every year, for a total of 368 medals.
Snowboarding is one of the sports that Norway is competing in. It is played in the snow. Snowboarding is like skiing, but on one ski. It was first played in the Olympics in 1998. There are 5 kinds of snowboarding races. They are called Parallel Giant Slalom, Halfpipe, Snowboard Cross, Big Air and Slopestyle.
The athlete that we chose is Silje Norendal. She is a female. She also competed in the 2014 winter Olympics. She participated in two events. She finished in fourth place in slopestyle and she finished in sixth place in Big Air.
