פרק ח’

Hashem has promised me the land, the king and all the people of Ai. Hashem helped us right until now, but this battle will not be a Holy War, for Hashem will not do all of the work for us. We have to make an ambush to the west of the city, in enemy territory. Finally, we can get some of the things of the people of Ai as a reward for our hard work.

I chose 30,000 people to fight in the ambush. We will wait behind the city of Ai, and we must stay alert. It will be hard to pass the city without waking everyone up. We must be absolutely silent. If we are to make any noise, we will be discovered and our entire plan will be ruined and our entire nation could die.

I told the 30,000 people that I ,with the rest of the army will approach the city of Ai. They will run away, and the people of Ai will chase us. Then, the ambush will rise up and go into the city. The ambush will destroy the city by burning it with fire. We must make sure that all of the people in the city are dead, but the animals may stay alive so we can keep them. We may also keep the booty. When I see the fire I will turn around and point the javelin towards the city of Ai. Then, we will attack the army of Ai from the east and the ambush will attack it from the west until all of Ai is dead.

The plan worked perfectly. We managed to capture the king, and we impaled him. Beit El also fought, so we managed to get the city of Ai AND Beit El. Mwahahaha….

Today all the kings beyond the Jordan (that included the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hvite and the Jebusite) and they gathered themselves together, and they fought with me and all of the Israel tribe.
