We will be practicing our writing and our science skills today.
In order to write a story correctly, we must use complete sentences, correct grammar and punctuation.
Which one of these sentences is a complete sentence?
1)Ran over the hill.
2) Dog ran.
3) The dog
4) The dog ran over the hill.
Complete sentences are used in all types of writing. Today we will be writing and learning about science. More specifically, we will learn (and see!) how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. This process is called metamorphosis.
What is metamorphosis?
Metamorphosis is (in an insect or amphibian) the process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in two or more distinct stages.
There are other types of creatures who undergo metamorphosis. Frogs also go through this process as they change from a tadpole to an adult frog.
The following pages will show us how metamorphosis works.
First, we will learn about the metamorphosis of a tadpole into a frog!
When we click on the following link, we will see a diagram of the life cycle of a butterfly:
Isn’t metamorphosis amazing?!
Can you think of any other insect or amphibian that changes through metamorphosis?
