The Big Blue Birthday

There once were two boys who were best friends named Jason and Jamie.

They shared everything. They had the same birthday, the same haircut.

And even their favorite color was the same!

(They both loved the color blue.)

Today was a very special day.

It was Jason and Jamie’s birthday!

Their parents and teacher got together and threw

a great big party at school.

And EVERYTHING was blue!

Soon it was time to open presents.

Jamie and Jason were very happy when they opened them.

But Jason wanted the blue toy truck that Jamie had,

And Jamie wanted the blue toy airplane that Jason got.

Jamie got jealous and took the airplane from Jason.

He threw it to the ground and it broke with a loud SNAP!

Jason got angry and grabbed Jamie’s truck and threw it out the window.

It went down, down, down… until it hit the ground with a thud.

“Jamie! Why’d you do that!?”

They moved to opposite sides of the room and wouldn’t talk to each other.

Their parents and teacher scolded them for how they acted.

Nobody was happy with this.

Jason suddenly remembered the present that he had gotten Jamie

Jamie was surprised when he opened it.

“It’s a toy airplane! Like the one you had!”

Jamie gave the present he had gotten to Jason.

It was just like the toy truck.

Jason and Jamie smiled at their new toys.

“Thank you!” They said, and hugged each other with a great big smile.

They were best friends forever after that.
