Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to film, video, and other media in post-production to enhance audio quality. These reproduced sounds can be anything from the swishing of clothing and footsteps to squeaky doors and breaking glass.  And they work in the studio.

Jack Donovan Foley (Yorkville, New YORK, 12 April 1891 – Los Angeles, California, November 9, 1967)   ,   was the developer of many  sound effect techniques used in filmmaking. 

 He is credited with developing a unique method for performing sound effects live and in synchroniy with the picture during film post production. Accordingly, individuals engaged in this trade are called (foley artist).

An interview with Jack Donovan

Fatima   : hello Jack, I want to do an interview with you.

Jack : Yes, of course.

Fatima : Ok, I want to ask you, are you born in Texas or in New York? 

 Because there are people think that you are born in Texas Is this right?

Jack : No , I was born in New York.  

Fatima : Ok, I know that you are working

Foley effect, do you like your job?

Jack : Yes , I like my job i do my work very well .

Fatima : good, do you get tired in your job ?

Jack :  Yes , I am because I work all the day.

Fatima :  ok, do you think that your job is so important in the movies?

Jack :  Sure, because it’s very boring to watch movies without sound effects.

Fatima :  I think this is real, and if they ask you to leave your job do you agree?

Jack : Look, I’m admit that my job is hard, but I love my job, and I dont want to leave my job.

  Fatima : So you do your work seriously, right?

    Jack : Yes, I do my job well and I  finish my work fast and perfect.

Fatima :  you work quickly, how can you do your job perfect?

Jack : I work quickly but that dosen’t affect on my work.   

Fatima :  I think that You are successful man because you work so hard, right?

Jack :  Yes, that ‘s right.

Fatima   : ok, thank you Mr. Jack and I am very happy to meet you
