1. Pack light!
This may sound silly, but packing light is the single tip that takes away much of the traveling stress. Keeping everything in one carry-on means less time spent in airports and less hassle moving around cities. If you’re still using a suitcase you bought several years ago, it may be time to invest in some new, lightweight luggage.

2. Book a smart hotel
A good bed and some room to move can make or break your business trip. But choosing smart does not always mean more expensive. Consider less expensive hotels. Ironically, they tend to provide more for less. Look for hotels with quality fitness facility. Having a great fitness just a few floors down makes working out much easier.

3. Find the light
Spending time outdoors surrounded by natural light helps your body adjust to the new time zone. Also staying active helps your body to realize that things have changed around you. Exercise in form of a brisk walk or run can help people adjust to the advanced clocks.

4. Forget your pills
Leave the sleeping pills alone. They’re not worth it. They will do nothing to assist the jetlag and will just leave you feeling fuzzy when you land. Saying that, on a long flight, you should try to sleep. How about a nice chamomile tea?

5. Drink your water
The need for water can hardly be overstated. Drinking water, especially when you are on the road has many advantages. It helps you to eat less and control your weight, it stops headaches and dizziness (no pills needed!), it clears your skin and it keeps you regular. No calories, no artificial stuff and only benefits.

6. Stay active at the airport
If you get to the airport early, resist the urge to immediately plop down into a chair at the gate or the comfortable airport lounge. Never under-estimate the power of a walk! Crank up your MP3 player and lap around the perimeter of the airport.

7. Hunt for good food
Pack more than your clothes. What you pack is what you eat and it is much less expensive than your regular airport muffins. So pack travel-friendly foods like snack packs of Tuna Salad and Crackers, beef jerky, and low-calorie meal-replacement bars.

8. Find a favorite restaurant
If you have found a good restaurant, do not hesitate to return there the next day. Staff will recognize you, you will feel more comfortable and chances are you will eat more relaxed and make nourishing choices. Our favorite is the Happy Cow app that shows all vegetarian restaurants around you. Always a good atmosphere and a healthy choice!

9. Start anyhow
When you land, you’ll probably feel like going to the gym about as much as chopping off your right foot; but pushing yourself to do so, will revitalise your numb muscles after the flight and give you more energy during the following days.

10. Make a plan
The best way to make time for exercise during your trip is to have a written plan. When you check your schedule in the morning, you’ll see it there and form a mental picture of when and how you’ll be exercising that day, which helps you stay motivated.

11. OK, one simple extra? Always take the stairs!
The simplest way to get in a little extra exercise? Don’t take the elevator. Of course we understand that you will not walk all 450 steps to your hotel room on the 35ft floor. But hey, if you are on level 4, why not use the stairs and enjoy that extra challenge.
