  1. Ginsburg was nominated to the Supreme Court of the United States by President Bill Clinton and took her oath of office on August 10, 1993. She was the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court after Sandra Day O’Connor.
  2. Despite facing gender discrimination during her legal career, Ginsburg persevered and became a champion of women’s rights. She co-founded the Women’s Rights Project at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in 1972.
  3. Ginsburg was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1999 and underwent successful treatment. She faced subsequent health issues over the years, including pancreatic cancer in 2009 and lung cancer in 2018.
