For many years, cats have been suffering from negative public perception and are not receiving the love and cherish they deserve from animal lovers.
The prevailing perception in society is that a cat is a selfish, unpredictable and unfaithful creature. So, if you hold this opinion about this magical animal, let me try to persuade you otherwise.
In honor of my 4 feline friends, I collected a few little-known scientific facts that prove how awesome cats really are:
1. Lower stress and anxiety
Cat owners know how one session of petting or playing with their cat can turn a bad day into a good one. Scientific evidence also shows that a cat’s purr can calm your nervous system and lower your blood pressure.
2. Improve your cardiovascular health
Cat owners have been reported to carry a lower risk for heart disease and stroke.
3. Prevent allergies
I guess you always hear about cat hair being one of the most common allergens. However, if a child is exposed to cats within the first few years of life, they are more likely to develop an immune system that combats not only cat allergies but other kinds of allergens as well.
4. Reduce feelings of loneliness
Cats are great companion animals. They offer an unconditional love that can be equal to (or sometimes even greater than) many human friends.
5. Low-maintenance pet
One of the great benefits of owning a cat is that you don’t need much to own a cat. Cats are known for being super low-maintenance and a simple petting session is usually enough to make both you and your cat happy.
Owning a cat can be an extremely rewarding relationship, and if you’re looking to adopt a friend for life – I highly recommend considering a feline companion 🙂
