LOVE OR REVENGE

May 4th 1991

Today is the 10th anniversary of my brother’s death, and I’m only now finding out the real reason behind it.

I swore to my parents, one day I’ll get revenge.

Four years later

A tall, bald man in a suit, that seems to be around his mid 40s, sat behind a large brown desk.

“Hello Airi, I’m going to be your new principal and I’ll be in charge of you for the next three years. I heard many great things about you, and I certainly hope you’ll have a good time here.”

As soon as I stepped out of his office, I was greeted with a beautiful blonde, smiling girl.

“Hi, you must be Airi Kyuma! I’m Isabelle Henning. I’m supposed to be showing you our school but that’s way too boring. instead, let me show you the real hot places around.”

Hennings? I know I heard that somewhere before…

Only two months had past since I met Isabelle and we spent every minute together. We were inseparable, and the more time we spent together, the more my feelings for her grew deeper and deeper.

But the biggest problem of them all? She was the daughter of the man who killed my brother…

Four months later

Isabelle and I were sitting in her favorite grass field, not far from the school.

Every moment with her makes me forget about everything, why I’m here and who I’m sitting with.

“What’s on your mind?” She moved a strand of hair from my face with a smile.

I returned the warm smile, “just about how much I love you.”

“I love you too Airi.”

And then, six months after our first meeting, was my first kiss.

Who would have thought it will also be my last…

I felt the pain in my heart before the pain in my back.

Although she stabbed me in my lower back, the pain I felt was  much bigger in my heart.

“Why?” I coughed out, blood dripping from my mouth down to my chin.

“I loved you. I truly did.” She was tearing up now as well. “But you just knew too much.”

She pushed the sharp knife deeper up my back. I felt the pain going up from my spine straight to my heart and breaking it all over again.

A ghost of a sad smile played on her lips. “You can rest now.”

I tried fighting the tiredness washing over me as my eyelids felt heavier by the second.

And with tear stained cheeks, blood dripping from my mouth, and in the arms of the love of my life, I slowly fell into darkness.

As tears kept running down my cheeks, I no longer felt pain.

And the darkness was replaced by a sudden blinding light.

“Hey”

A whole too familiar voice was sounded from behind me.

I turned around to face the unknown yet familiar voice.

And for the first time in fourteen years, I came face to face with my brother.
